Kobe

After months (perhaps years) of requests from Michael and Spencer to get a dog (and a cat and a hedgehog), during the summer of 2017 we began a search for a "rescue" dog.  There are numerous pet adoption organizations around town, but it quickly became apparent that puppies are in high demand.  In early July of 2017, we met Kody, a 100 pound, 2-year old mixed breed dog who was in need of a home.   We "adopted" him that day and changed his name to Kobe (or Kobayashi Maru for long).  As the days and weeks passed, we learned that Kobe has a few idiosyncracies.  For example, he is afraid of everything.  To be clear, "everything" doesn't mean "everything" literally (although it does feel like it sometimes).  To illustrate, some items that Kobe is afraid of, and keep in mind that this list is far from exhaustive, include lampposts, grocery bags, iPhones, anything that is held in one's hand, shrubbery, parked cars (although not moving cars, smart right?), people - particularly if they are standing awkwardly or are holding anything in their hands or have a jacket tied about their waist.  Unfortunately, when Kobe is scared, he barks.  Loudly.  But time passes quickly and although it seems like a short while ago, it has been two full years since we brought Kobe home.  He is sweet and sensitive and we all love him.
